Coaxial Point-Source Monitoring for Bigger Rooms and Bigger Mixes

FX80v2 is an 8-inch, bi-amplified coaxial studio monitor designed for producers, musicians, content creators, and immersive audio setups that need strong low-frequency extension, precise imaging, and a consistent listening position.

The tweeter is mounted on the same acoustic axis as the woofer, creating a point-source presentation that improves phase coherence, off-axis consistency, and stereo imaging compared with conventional vertically separated two-way designs.

Compare the full range of Fluid Audio studio monitors.

8" Coaxial woofer

An 8-inch composite paper cone with high-temperature voice coil and damped rubber surround provides the low-frequency foundation for medium-to-large home studios and project rooms.

1.2" Silk-dome tweeter

The tweeter sits on the same acoustic axis as the woofer for point-source imaging and consistent off-axis response.

110 W Bi-amplified Class D

60 watts for the low-frequency driver and 50 watts for the high-frequency driver.

35 Hz Low-frequency extension

Frequency response extends to 35 Hz for fuller monitoring without requiring a subwoofer in every setup.

Coaxial Point-Source Design

More Consistent Imaging from a Single Acoustic Axis

Traditional two-way monitors place the tweeter above the woofer. FX80v2 places the high-frequency driver in front of the woofer on a fixed post, allowing both drivers to behave more like a single acoustic source.

Point-Source Imaging

A shared acoustic axis improves phase coherence between the drivers and helps create stable stereo placement and depth.

Consistent Off-Axis Response

Symmetrical dispersion helps maintain a more even tonal balance as the listening position moves away from the exact center.

DSP-Controlled Crossover

Onboard DSP manages crossover behavior and response shaping to create a smoother transition between woofer and tweeter.

Horizontal or Vertical Placement

The coaxial geometry allows the monitor to work consistently upright or on its side, making studio placement more flexible.

Why Coaxial?

Woofer and Tweeter Working from the Same Acoustic Center

The FX coaxial architecture places the high-frequency driver in front of the low-frequency driver instead of separating the two vertically on the baffle. This geometry helps the monitor behave more like a single point source through the crossover region.

For the listener, the practical benefit is more stable imaging, more consistent phase behavior, and a monitoring presentation that changes less as you move around the listening position.

FX80v2 Improvements

Refined for Modern Home and Project Studios

FX80v2 builds on the original FX platform with updated DSP tuning, a flatter overall response, and clearer rear-panel labeling.

Boundary compensation DSP-controlled rear-panel switches help compensate for placement near walls or in less-than-ideal rooms.

Front-loaded slot port The front port supports low-frequency efficiency while giving you more flexibility when the monitor must sit closer to a wall.

Alignment LED The illuminated front indicator also works as an alignment reference to help position the monitor at ear height.

Universal mains input 85 to 265 VAC operation simplifies use across international studio environments.

Measured Response

A studio monitor is useful because of what it reveals, not because of how impressive a specification sounds on paper. The published FX80v2 response curve gives you a visual reference for the monitor's tonal behavior across its operating bandwidth.

Dolby Atmos and Immersive Audio

A Practical Coaxial Monitor for Immersive Production

Rear M6 mounting points allow compatible wall or ceiling installation, making FX80v2 suitable for side, rear, and overhead channels in Dolby Atmos and other immersive monitoring systems.

For compact rooms, the FX50v2 uses the same coaxial point-source philosophy in a smaller format. For deeper low-frequency extension, pair FX80v2 with the FC10S.
